MAINTENANCE

PRECAUTION:

The performance of the

MUX2

 depends strongly on the conditions

of its precision mechanics. Ensure that its parts are kept free from dirt, dust,
liquids and other contaminants!

Be aware, that aquariums aerated with bubble stones will deposit a fine spray
of water drops in the surrounding. Ensure that the

Micromanipulator MUX2

 is

shielded from this spray! Especially seawater is very aggressive, causing rapid
corrosion of metallic parts!

The mechanical performance of the

Micromanipulator MUX2

 depends strongly on the

condition of its precision mechanics. Periodically you might carefully clean the gear
wheels, gear racks, and the lead screw (Figure 3). For cleaning, first remove
contaminants and old grease with ethanol. Then apply a

small

 amount of silicon based

grease to the gear wheels, gear racks, and the lead screw. In order to protect all other
parts of the

MUX2

against contaminants, you might coat them

thinly

 with a Teflon

spray.

MUX2

depends strongly on the conditions of its precision

mechanics. Ensure that especially the gear racks and lead screws are kept free from dirt, dust and
other contaminants! (Image shows Micromanipulator
