Additional Requirements
ESD
To reduce the risk of damage to equipment, the MPS1000 should be kept in an ESD protected
environment. The unit should be properly grounded at all times; it should be plugged in and its
grounding lug should be connected to the supply circuit ground. When performing routine
maintenance on the unit, a wrist strap should be used and plugged into one of the ESD jacks,
located on the front and rear of the chassis.
for the locations of the ESD jacks.
Warning:
Use proper ESD protection to reduce the risk of damage to your equipment.
Dimensions
The MPS1000 occupies an area of 17" W x 11.02" D x 1.75" H (432 x 280 x 44.5 mm), see
Table 4-2, “Chassis Dimensions,”
. It is recommended that you allow for access to both front
and back panels of the unit when installing the MPS1000.
Weight
The MPS1000 weights 5.44 kg (12 lb.) unpackaged; and 8.35 kg (18.4 lb.) packaged.
Rack Mounting
If several rack-mounted units are installed in a rack, the ambient temperature within the rack
may be higher than the room temperature. Care should be taken to install the units such that
each has sufficient room for air inflow and exhaust, to allow proper cooling. Air flow in the
MPS1000 is from the front of the unit to the side and rear.
Rack-mounted units should be installed such that their weight is distributed properly in the rack.
Otherwise, the rack may be unstable and create a potential hazard.
If rack-mounted units are installed in a closed or multi-unit rack assembly, they may require
further evaluation by certification agencies.
