Forum Gateway 560 Connection via
PCM-V Connection
All VoIP audio connections that originate with a Forum Gateway 560 and go
to the Forum 5004/5008/5012 communications system (Call Server) are
conducted via the RTP protocol and require one media gateway channel
respectively. Audio tones, recording music on hold and also what is required
for generating DTMF tones are controlled by the call server; each of these
briefly seizes a media gateway channel. This is why a Forum Gateway 560
needs to be suitably equipped with a corresponding number of media
gateway cards depending on the number of connected terminals and the
level of expected audio traffic.
Media gateway channels can, however, be also seized in a second,
neighbouring Forum Gateway 560. This requires that both
Forum Gateways 560 are connected to one another via a PCM-V line. The
PCM-V line transports both voice as well as administration data between the
Forum Gateways 560. Connecting the Forum Gateways 560 also makes it
possible to optimise the required number of media gateway cards.
Note:
The central control modules of both Forum Gateways 560
must respectively have their own Compact Flash card for saving
the operating software.
Installation Steps
