5.1 Safety instructions for all
work activities
Safety warnings common for work
activities of grinding, surface grind-
ing, wire brush grinding or abrasive
cutting
a)
This electromechanical tool is de-
signed to be used as a grinder, sur-
face grinder, wire brush grinder or as
a cutting tool. Read all safety warn-
ings, instructions, illustrations and
speci
fi
cations given for this electro-
mechanical tool.
Not adhering to the
instructions below may result in injury
by electric shock,
fi
re and/or serious in-
jury.
b)
It is not recommended to use this
tool to carry out polishing work.
Car-
rying out work activities for which this
tool was not designed may create a risk
and cause injury to a person.
c)
Do not use accessories, which are
not explicitly designed and recom-
mended by the tool manufacturer.
The mere fact that accessories can be
connected to your tool, does not guar-
antee its safe operation.
d)
The nominal revolutions of the ac-
cessory must at least equal the max-
imum revolutions stated on the tool.
Accessories working at higher revolutions
than the nominal revolutions may break
and fall apart.
e)
The outside diameter and thickness
of your accessory must be within the
range of the nominal range of your
electromechanical tool.
An accessory
that has the wrong size cannot be suf-
fi
ciently protected or controlled.
f)
The mounting dimensions of discs,
fl
anges, support plates or all other
accessories must be suitable for
mounting on the tool’s spindle.
Acces-
sories with attachment openings, which
do not conform to the attachment open-
ings of the electromechanical tool will be
unbalanced, may vibrate excessively and
may cause loss of control.
g)
Do not use damaged accessories. Be-
fore each use inspect the accesso-
ries: with a grinding wheel chipping
off and cracks, with support under-
lays cracks, rips or excessive wear,
with wire brushes loose or cracked
wires. If the accessory or tool was
dropped, inspect for damage or at-
tach an undamaged accessory. After
inspecting and attaching the acces-
sory both you and those standing
around you stand so that you are
outside the plane of the rotating ac-
cessory and allow the tool to run at
the highest revolutions unloaded for
a period of one minute.
During this
test period damaged accessories usually
break or fall apart.
h)
Use personal protective gear. De-
pending on the application, use a
face guard plate, safety goggles or
safety glasses. In the appropriate
extent use a dust face mask, hearing
protection, gloves and a work apron,
capable of stopping small frag-
ments of abrasive or pieces of work.
