Configuring the server Starting up and operation
– IPMI
The server is switched on by an IPMI console via serial port COM1 (item 8
in
figure 8 on page 47 ) or via LAN port M (item 3 in figure 8 on page 47 ).
5.3 Configuring the server
This section contains information about configuring the server and installing the
operating system.

Make sure that the energy saving functions are disabled in the BIOS Setup
during server operation.
5.3.1 Configuring onboard SAS controller
The server has an onboard SAS controller with “Integrated Mirroring Enhanced”
functionality. You can configure the Onboard-SAS-Controller either before or
during
ServerStart . Using ServerStart is recommended.

A separate utility is available to the controller for IME configuration.
