HYDRAULIC STEERING
MAINTENANCE OF HYDRAULIC SYSTEM:
On this type of installation it is advisable to:
- Periodically check the oil level of the pumps.
- Drain the system every 3 or 4 years. Fill back up with clean oil and bleed the system.
BLEEDING THE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
1. Pump:
Place a tank of approximately 2 litres on the filling hole and fill it up (Dexron II or IS032
viscosity)depending on the oil already used in the system. During the bleeding operation keep
the tank full of oil all the time.
2. Piston:
Unscrew the bleeding nipples 2 or 3 turns and connect them to a container.Turn the helm wheel
in one direction and then the other until the oil no longer contains any air. Screw the bleeding
nipples back up.
3. Pump:
Fill it up to approximately 20 mm below the filling cap. After ten or so hours of operation
re-check the oil level.
PRECAUTION
- Carefully follow the order of the operations below.
- Wait for the bled oil to be no longer emulsified before re-using.
