Home-Theater
Today’s home theater systems typically comprise front loud-
speakers, side and/or rear loudspeakers, a center channel loud-
speaker and a powered subwoofer. Building your system with
loudspeakers of the same brand produces the best performance,
as the tonal characteristics will remain the same throughout
your surround system.
Main Speakers
A general guideline for speaker placement is to set up the space
between speaker and listener at approximately 1.5 times the dis-
tance between the speakers. For example, if the speakers are
ideally placed a minimum of 6 feet apart, the best seating posi-
tion would be 9 feet away. The speaker should be placed approxi-
mately a foot from the back wall for ideal performance and
soundstage depth, but can be placed as close to the back wall as
six inches.
Center Channel
A center channel can be expected to reproduce as much as 60%
of a movie’s soundtrack, most of which is dialogue. In order to
maintain the effect of voices emanating from the actor’s mouth,
the center channel should be centrally located between the left
and right main channels and be placed above or below the
television.
Surround Channels
Surround speakers should be positioned adjacent to and slightly
behind the primary listening area. If they are to be wall mounted
and positioned more than about 5 feet from the listening area
then they should be installed at a height of about 6 feet. If they
are to be placed on stands or in a wall unit closer to the listening
area then they should be positioned at roughly head level
.
Cinéma-Maison

des enceintes avants, de côté et/ou arrière, une enceinte cen-
trale et un sous-grave amplifié. En formant votre système avec
des enceintes d’un seul fabricant, vous donnera la meilleure
performance car les caractéristiques sonores des enceintes
seront indiques.
Canaux Avant
La posiion des enceintes avants et très importante pour la per-
formance de vôtre système. Idéalement les enceintes avants
devraient avoir les haut-parleurs aigus à la même hauteur, et
au niveau de la position d’écoute. Si cela n’est pas possible,
mettez l’enceinte centrale en dessous ou sur le téléviseur, avec
les enceintes avants de chaque côté du téléviseurs.
Canal Central
Dans une application cinéma-maison placez le canal central
au-dessus ou juste dessous du téléviseur. Les haut-parleurs
avant droit et avant gauche devrait être ensuite placé de
chaque coté du moniteur.
Canaux d’Ambiance
Les haut-parleurs d’ambiophonie sont type d'étagère. Les
haut-parleurs de type étagère devraient être placés sur des
supports à l'arrière de la salle d’écoute. Les haut-parleurs
peuvent être dirigés à la position d'écoute pour un son plus
directe ou si un son plus enveloppant est préféré, les haut-par-
leurs peuvent être dirigés vers l'avant de la salle, et non pas à
la position d'écoute.
