Cutting internal threads
(Figure a)
note:
Use cutting oil to reduce the friction
between the workpiece and the tap 3 .
j Determine the required thread.
j Drill a core hole. This must be smaller in
diameter than the required thread (see table
below).
j Slightly widen the hole at the surface using
a countersink bit (max. 10 % of the thread
diameter at all sides). This will ease the work
of the tap 3 in turning the first threads.
j Mount the selected tap 3 in the tap
wrench 4 .
