WARNING ! "ALWAYS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS" To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock and personal injury observe the safety
regulations applicable in your country. Follow these safety instructions before attempting to operate this product.
Work Area
• Keep your work area clean and well lit. Cluttered work
areas invite accidents.
• Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres. Do
not operate in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or
dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite dust or
fumes.
• Keep bystanders, children and visitors away while
operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose
control.
Electrical Safety
• Grounded tools must be plugged into an outlet
properly. They must be installed and grounded in
accordance with all codes and ordinances. Never
remove the grounding prong or modify the plug in any
way. Do not use any adapter plugs. Check with a
qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the
outlet is properly grounded. If the tool should electrically
malfunction or break down, grounding provides a low
resistance path to carry electricity away from the user.
• Double insulated tools are equipped with a polarized
plug. This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way.
If the plug does not fit in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it
still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install a
polarized outlet. Do not change the plug in any way.
Double insulation eliminates the need for the three wire
grounded power cord and grounded power supply
systems.
• Avoid body contact with grounded surfaces such as
pipes, resistors, ranges and refrigerators. There is an
increased risk of shock if your body is grounded.
• Don't expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. If a
power tool comes in contact with water it will increase
the risk of electrical shock.
• When operating a power tool outside, use a grounded
outdoor extension cord. These cords are rated for
outdoor use and reduce the risk of electric shock.
Personal Safety
• Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common
sense when operating a power tool. Do not use power
tool while tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol,
or medication. Lack of attention while operating power
tools may result in serious personal injury.
• Dress properly and do not wear loose clothing or
jewelry. Keep long hair away from power tools. Loose
clothes, jewelry or long hair can get caught in moving
parts.
• Avoid accidental starting. Be sure switch is off before
starting. Carrying, or plugging in tools while the switch is
on, or with your finger on the switch invites accidents.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The rotary tool is a multi-purpose tool able to cut, drill, polish,
grind, sand and engrave. There are many other uses based on
the wide variety of attachments. The tool works on a high speed
low torque principle. The revolution can attain 30,000 rpm
compared to a typical 2800 rpm for an electric drill. The speed
combined with the proper accessory does the work. The user
simply has to hold it and guide it to the job.
Please familiarize yourself with the major components of this
tool before use. (See figure below)
Check for damaged tool parts or accessories which may have
occurred during transport. Take the time to read and understand
this manual prior to operation.
Accessory Installation
WARNING! Always unplug the tool before changing
accessories, or servicing your tool.
T
o loosen collet, first depress the shaft lock button and rotate
the shaft by hand until the lock engages the shaft.
WARNING! Do not engage shaft lock while the rotary
tool is running.
With the shaft lock engaged use hand to loosen the
collet nut. Change accessories by inserting the new one
into the collet as far as possible. This minimizes
unbalance while the tool is in use. With the shaft lock
engaged, finger tighten the collet nut until the accessory
shank is gripped by the collet. Avoid excessive
tightening to the collet nut.
The collet included with your tool is 1/8". It will fit all Eaglet USA
rotary tool accessories. If you purchase accessories from other
brands please make sure that you use the collet that match's the
shank size of the accessory you plan to use. Other collet sizes are
available as optional accessories at your local dealer.
Tool Use and Care
• Use clamps or other safe ways to secure and support
the work item to a stable platform. Holding the work by
hand or to your body is unstable and may lead to loss of
control.
• Do not use force while operating the tool. Use the
correct tool for the job. The correct tool will make the job
go quicker and safer.
• Do not use tool if switch does not turn on or off. Any
tool that cannot be controlled by the on/off switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
• Disconnect the plug from the power source before
making any adjustments. Disconnect the plug before
changing accessories, or storing the tool. Safety
precautions reduce the risk of starting the tool
accidentally.
• Store idle tools out of reach of children and other
untrained persons. Tools are dangerous in the hands of
untrained users.
• Maintain tools with care. Keep cutting tools sharp and
clean. Properly maintain tools with sharp cutting edges,
• Remove adjustment keys or switches before turning
the tool on. A wrench or key that is left attached to a
rotating part of the tool may result in personal injury.
• Do not overreach while using tool. Keep proper footing
and balance at all times. Proper footing and balance
enables better control with the tool in unexpected
conditions.
• Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Dust
mask, safety shoes, hard hat and hearing protection must
be used for appropriate conditions.
they are less likely to bind and are easier to control.
• Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts,
breakage of parts, and any other condition that may
affect the tools operation. If damaged, have the tool
serviced before using. Many accidents are caused by
poorly maintained tools.
• Use only accessories that are recommended by the
manufacturer.
Accessories suited for one tool may be hazardous when
used with another tool.
Service
• Service must be performed by qualified repair person.
Service or maintenance performed by unqualified
person could result in risk of injury. And could void your
warranty.
• When servicing tools, use only identical replacement
parts. Always follow instructions in the maintenance
section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or
failure to follow maintenance instructions may create a
risk of shock or injury.
Additional Safety Rules for Rotary Tools
• Hold tool with insulated gripping surfaces when
performing an operation where the cutting tool may
come in contact with hidden wiring or its own power
cord. Contact with a live wire will cause the exposed
metal parts to become "live" and shock the operator.
• Remember it is ultimately the responsibility of the
collet lock
collet nut
brush cover
power switch
speed dial
• Regularly inspect all mounting screws and ensure that
they are properly tightened. Should any screws be
loose, tighten them immediately. Failure to do so could
result in serious injury.
• The motor unit winding is the very "heart" of the power
tool. Exercise care that the winding does not become
damaged or wet with water or oil.
• Clearing debris from tool.
The tool may be cleaned most effectively with
compressed dry air. Always wear safety goggles when
cleaning tools with compressed air.
START UP
1. Make sure the accessory is securely attached to the
collet before plugging in the power cord.
2. Grip tool firmly and rotate power switch to the ON
position.
3. Adjust speed using the speed adjustment dial located at
the rear of the tool.
To select the right speed for each job, use a sample
piece of material. Vary the speed to find the best speed
for the job at hand.
NOTE: For the majority of applications, the rotary tool should
be used at top speed.
High Speed Uses:
Higher speeds are better for carving, cutting, routing,
shaping. Higher speeds are also good for cutting dado's
or rabbets in wood. Hardwoods, metals and glass
require high speed operation also. Drilling should also
be done at high speed.
WARNING! Do not use grinding wheels over 1" in
diameter. The high speed of the tool can cause larger
wheels to fly apart and could cause injury.
CAUTION: To protect your eyes, always wear an
approved set of safety glasses.
Low Speed Uses:
Certain materials (some plastics for example) require a
relatively slow speed because at high speed the friction
of the tool generates heat and causes the plastic to
melt. Slow speeds usually are best for polishing
operations utilizing the felt polishing accessories. They
may also be best for working on delicate projects, wood
carving and fragile model parts.
NOTE: Incoming voltage affects greatly the speed of
the tool. Speed drops in correspondence to decreased
voltage. If your tool appears to be running slowly
simply increase the speed setting accordingly.
Maintenance
• To maintain peak efficiency of the motor examine the
brushes every two to six months. If tool is used
continuously check more frequently. Always unplug the
power cord before checking the carbon brushes.
• WARNING. Do not allow brake fluids, gasoline,
petroleum based products penetrating oils etc. to come
in contact with plastic parts. They contain chemicals that
can damage, weaken or destroy the housing, thus
compromising moving parts.
• Avoid accidental starting.
