5 Troubleshooting
WARNING!
Electric shock caused by applied voltage!
When the instrument is live, an improper handling of replacing fuses can
cause an electric shock.
» Always disconnect the instrument from the mains before checking the
fuses.
WARNING!
Fire risk caused by wrong fuses!
» Replace defective fuses only by fuses of the same kind with the amperage
given on the instrument.
Approach
In the following, simple tests are described which you can carry out yourself in
case of malfunctions. In the case of more serious problems with individual
functions, contact our service personnel. The tests described here are not
meant to lead you to carry out maintenance work yourself, but to provide our
service personnel with information which is as accurate as possible.
Testing the instrument is limited to tasks during which the housings does not
have to be opened.
If malfunctions cannot be solved by the measures described here or if
distortions occur which are not mentioned here, contact our service
department. Further procedure will be determined based on your fault
description.
When returning the instrument for repair, use the original packaging and
provide a detailed description of the malfunction.
5.1
General Tests
In case of a malfunction, first check the following:
1. Have you correctly connected up the instrument as described in
3.4?
Front-end
2. Have you used the original network cables from Polytec?
3. Have you turned the key switch on the front of the front-end to position

4. Is the
POWER
status display on the front of the instrument lit up?
If the status display is not lit up, then a fault in the mains supply can be
assumed. Disconnect the mains plug and check the fuses on the back of
the front-end. There are two active fuses which can both lead to failure.
