Setting the audio 
preferences in your 
computer 

Windows

:

Open the Sound Preferences 
in the Control Panel. In 
the Manage Audio Devices 
window, select “USB Audio 
Device” as the default 
recording (1) and default 
playback (2) device.

Mac OS

:

 

Open the sound preferences 
in the system preferences 
window. Select “USB Audio 
Device” as the sound input 
(3) and output (4) device.

Recording and monitoring

1.

   Use the mic gain level 

knob to set an optimal 
recording level.

2.

   Monitor the recording through headphones connected to the headphone output. 

TR OUBLESHOOTING

Problem

Solution

The USB-XLR-48 
will not turn on.

Make sure the USB cable is firmly plugged into the USB-XLR-48 and your computer’s USB 
port.
Restart the computer.
Make sure the USB port is powered.

The microphone 
will not record.

Make sure both ends of the XLR cable are completely plugged into the microphone 
and the USB-XLR-48.
If you are using a condenser microphone, press the phantom power button. The LED 
should glow blue to indicate that the phantom power is on.
Make sure you have selected the USB-XLR-48 as your input device in your computer’s 
audio control panel.

There is no sound 
coming from the 
headphones.

Make sure your headphones are plugged into the headphone jack on the USB-XLR-48.
Use the “up” volume button to turn up the headphone level on the USB-XLR-48.
If your headphones have their own volume control, make sure the volume is turned up.
Make sure you have selected the USB-XLR-48 (which will appear as “USB Audio 
Device”) as the output device in your computer’s audio control panel.

The sound is 
distorted.

Turn down the mic gain level on the USB-XLR-48.
If your microphone has a built-in gain control, turn it down.
Move the microphone further away from the source.

Getting started

1.

   Connect the USB-XLR-48 and your computer with the included USB cable. 

The LED indicator will glow red.

2.

   Plug your microphone into the XLR connector of the USB-XLR-48. If you are 

using a condenser microphone, press the phantom power button to send 
power to the microphone. The LED indicator will glow blue.

3.

   Plug headphones into the headphone output and adjust the volume to a 

comfortable level.

Note

:

 to avoid a burst of high volume, turn down the headphone level before 

plugging in your headphones.
