N) FLASH PICTURES
• This camera is equipped with auto
Flash which will automatically fire indoors or outdoors in low-light
conditions e.g. under dark or overcast sky or in shade.
• Ensure you are within flash range (fig 11) for picture taking.
• The
“Wait” Light will glow red and Flash Symbol “
” on LCD Panel will blink while flash is charging. The
shutter will be inhibited while camera is charging to prevent wasted exposure. When
“Wait” Light no longer
glows red (and flash symbol “
” on LCD simultaneously stops blinking) depress the
Shutter Release Button
to take the picture.
• After
Flash is fired it will automatically recharge ready for next picture. If recharging takes excessively long or
if low battery symbol “ ” appears, replace battery.
FILL FLASH FEATURE
The camera also has a Fill Flash feature. Press the
Mode Button (16) until flash symbol “
” alone without
symbol appears steadily on LCD display (fig 7f). Then the flash will always fire, even outside in bright
sun. This can improve your picture if, for example, you are outside in bright sun but your subject’s face is shaded
or strongly backlit.
Fill flash may also be selected in conjunction with self-timer.
FLASH OFF FEATURE
In some low lighting situations where flash photography may be prohibited, or where for artistic effect no flash
is desired, the automatic flash may be disabled.
Press the
Mode Button until no flash symbol “
” appears (see fig 7g).
RED EYE REDUCTION
Pictures of people or animals taken at low light levels may exhibit “Red-Eye” effect. The eye pupils appear as
red circles in the pictures. This can be reduced by having your subject look away from the camera or by turning
on bright room lights. Additionally this camera is equipped with a Red-eye Reduction feature.
Press the
Mode Button until Red Eye Reduction symbol “
” appears (see fig 7e).
The high power
Red Eye Reduction LED (8) will turn on momentarily before the flash picture is taken. This
bright LED will cause the subject’s eye pupils to partially close, reducing the “Red-Eye” effect. Red-Eye
Reduction may also be selected in conjunction with self-timer mode.
NOTE: The camera will stay in the selected flash mode after you take the picture. To return to auto flash mode,
select by pressing the mode button or turn off the camera’s power.
O) SELF-TIMER
Self-timer feature is useful when you wish to be included in the picture. With camera turned ON, Press
Self-
Timer Button (22).
Self-timer symbol “
” will appear on LCD display to confirm self-timer mode is engaged. Then press the
Shutter Button to activate 10 second count down.
During the 10 second count down,
Red Eye Reduction Light (8) on front of camera will blink slowly for 7 seconds;
then blink quickly for next 3 seconds and then the shutter will fire.
To cancel the self-timer before the picture is taken, press the
Self-Timer Button again or turn the camera off by
depressing
On/Off Switch.
Any mode option (flash modes and infinity focus) may be selected when taking self-timer pictures. Refer to
J) “MODE SELECTION” for details of these options.
After picture has been taken the camera will revert to normal picture taking mode. If further self-timer picture is
desired,
Self-Timer Button must be pushed again before pressing shutter button.
P) REWINDING/UNLOADING FILM
When the last picture on the roll of film has been taken the film will automatically rewind.
When film has fully rewound, a flashing “0” will appear on
LCD Panel.
CAUTION:- Do NOT attempt to open the film door before rewinding is complete as you may damage the camera
and ruin your film.
For safety the shutter will be automatically inhibited until rewound film has been removed.
Turn the
Film Door Lock Switch (19) per arrow indication to open the film compartment and take out the film
promptly for processing.
MID ROLL REWIND:
The camera also has a
Mid Roll Rewind Switch (21), which may be pressed at any time when you wish to rewind
film and have it processed.
NOTE: A partially exposed film cannot be reloaded into the camera for picture taking.
Q) PROCESSING & PRINTING
Fully exposed film cassette will show Exposed
indication. Refer to figure 3.
After removing exposed film from camera have your film processed promptly by
photofinisher that offers Certified Advanced Photo System processing.
Negatives produced will be returned to you inside the film cassette for easy storage
and protection.
You should also receive an index print that shows each of the images in miniature size
for future identification.
To order reprints, refer to the index print to identify the images required and return the
film cassette to the photofinisher.
Reprints may be ordered in any of 3 print formats -
(Classic),
(Wide view)
or
(Panorama) - irrespective of the original print type selected when taking the picture.
Store the cassette in a cool dry place together with the index print for future reference.
R) CARING FOR YOUR CAMERA
• Protect the camera from dirt, rain, dampness or high heat
• Do not use solvents, alcohol or abrasive cleaners to clean the camera body
• Do not drop the camera
• Do not leave the camera in a car especially on a hot or sunny day
• Do not store the camera in extremely hot or very cold location
• Do not disassemble the camera, as it contains high voltage components
NOTE: Before undertaking an extended trip with the camera (especially if it has just been purchased), please
take a test roll of film to ensure that you are fully conversant with all key features of the camera and that
the picture results confirm correct performance. Carry spare battery with you.

Corrective Action
• Use only Advanced Photo System
film cassette.
• Reload batteries correctly or replace
with fresh batteries. See paragraph D)
“LOADING BATTERIES”. Then reload
film i.e. film must be inserted after
batteries are loaded to properly
sequence camera operation.
• Remove used film completely from
camera and load a fresh unexposed
film into the camera.
• Review paragraph G) “LOADING FILM”
• Remove film completely from camera
and load another new, unexposed film.
• Return to dealer for assistance.

Low battery symbol blinks warning that
no more pictures can be taken until
battery is replaced. If no symbol
appears on LCD Panel replace or
reload battery correctly.
T) DATE AND TIME IMPRINTING
The camera is capable of recording Date and Time information on the film’s magnetic strip. Your film
processing lab will print the Date And Time information onto the photographs.
Please refer to figure 2 for identification of the
LCD Panel (15) and three control buttons, DATE (25), SEL (24) and
SET (23). The DATE Button (25) controls the type of information that appears on the LCD. Date may be
imprinted in choice of 3 styles with either Day, Month or Year appearing first.
Date may be set by pressing the
DATE Button to select one of 3 styles. Press the Date Button (25) repeatedly to
scroll through the desired date and time formats:

Press the
SEL Button (24) so the 2 digit “ year ” display blinks. Press the SET Button (23) to set correct year.
(Press
Set Button continuously for rapid digit advance and lightly once for each single digit advance.) Repeat the
procedure to set “ month ” and “ day ” by pressing firstly the
SEL and then the SET Button.
To set Time, press the
SEL Button so the 2 digit “ hour ” display blinks. Press the SET Button to set correct hour.
Repeat the procedure for “ minute ” by pressing firstly the
SEL and then the SET Button. (This is a 24 hour clock.)
For no imprinting on photograph, press
DATE button until “ -- -- -- ” appears on LCD Panel.
The camera’s batteries power the date imprinting. Date and time memory will be retained for 5 minutes during
battery replacement. Date or Time may be printed on the front and back of each picture.
NOTE: When you remove the battery the date and time information will be lost. When new battery is installed the
date and time needs to be reset following above instructions. However if film is installed the frame count
is retained and will display correctly when new battery is installed.
U) BATTERY DISPOSAL
Contribute to environmental protection
• Do not dispose of used batteries or accumulators in household garbage bins.
• In some countries you are legally obliged to handle disposal of used
batteries by taking either to a public collection station or to where
batteries were originally purchased.
• Please check with your local authority about specific regulations
and location of collection bins where old batteries may be placed.
• Batteries are labelled with symbols containing harmful substances:
Pb (Lead); Cd (Cadmium); Hg (Mercury).
• Protect the environment and dispose of used batteries appropriately.

This Advanced Photo System camera offers you these great features:

The camera has the ability to record the exposure and lighting conditions information on the film. This
information assists the photofinisher to adjust exposure to give you the best quality photographs.
• Date and Time Imprinting
You can have the Date and Time printed on the front and back of your photographs.
A) INTRODUCTION
This camera accepts only
Advanced Photo System (IX240) negative film. Do NOT attempt to use 35mm film in
this camera.
FILM USE
Please familiarise yourself with the new film by referring to diagram of
Advanced Photo System film provided for
reference in figure 3.
Indicators clearly show the status of film being used. Film being loaded in this camera must be fresh film with
unexposed indication. Partially exposed film will show indication. (NOTE: Partially exposed film cannot
be loaded into this camera.)
Film which has been fully exposed, but not yet processed, will show exposed
indication. Send promptly for
processing. Do not tamper with, disassemble or attempt to open the film cassette. Refer to “Q) PROCESSING
& PRINTING” for information on photofinishing.

C) ATTACHING WRIST STRAP
Thread the small looped end of wrist strap through the
Wrist Strap Holder (17). Insert the other end through the
protruding loop and pull taut to securely fasten the strap (fig 4).
D) LOADING BATTERIES
• Grip the
Battery Cover (14), pull back and flip it open. (fig 5)
• Insert new 3 volt CR2 lithium battery following the polarity orientation shown inside the battery chamber (fig 6)
• Close
Battery Cover and push it in.
• To check battery status press
On/Off Switch (2) to turn on the camera and observe LCD Panel (15) to check
that frame number and status details appear.
• Low battery symbol “ ” (fig 7j) will appear as reminder to replace depleted battery as soon as possible.
After removing old battery, install new battery within five minutes to retain frame count memory.
• Blinking low battery symbol “ ” (fig 7k) warns that power is insufficient for taking any further pictures. The
camera shutter will then be inhibited and picture taking will be impossible until fresh battery is installed. The
frame count will be retained if film has already been loaded and will display correctly when fresh battery is
installed. However date and time cannot be retained when battery is removed. Refer to T) “DATE AND TIME
IMPRINTING”
Precautions:
Keep batteries out of reach of children. Do not break open, recharge or expose batteries to excessive heat or fire.
In very low temperatures battery output is reduced thereby affecting camera performance. Use fresh batteries for
low temperature picture-taking. Additionally, keep batteries (and camera if practical) inside coat pocket, when not
actually shooting, for best performance in very cold conditions.
E) POWER SWITCH
• Press
ON/OFF Switch (2) to turn on camera.
• Frame number and status details will appear on
LCD Panel to confirm camera is operational. Flash symbol
“
” will blink while flash is charging (fig 7a) and stops blinking when fully charged. Simultaneously, the
“Wait” Light (10) will glow red while flash is charging and will turn off when fully charged. Shutter will be
inhibited while flash is charging to prevent any wasted shots.
• If powered up camera has not been fired for about 3 minutes the power system will automatically switch off
and the
Zoom Lens (7) will fully retract and LCD Panel will become blank. To reactivate the camera, press
ON/OFF Switch again.
• When picture taking is complete it is recommended to switch off the power, which will automatically retract
the lens as well as closing the lens cover. Lens will then be best protected and battery power will be
conserved.
F) LCD PANEL
The
LCD Panel (15) shows status of film, frame count, flash charging, and battery as well as appropriate mode
selection. Blinking flash symbol “
” per (fig 7a) indicates flash is charging. Symbol will remain steadily when
flash is fully charged per (fig 7b). Frame number on
LCD Panel indicates film is loaded (fig 7c). After picture
has been taken the flash symbol will blink temporarily while flash recharges (fig 7d). The various mode options
shown (per figs 7e,f,g,h) are selected by Mode Button, while figure 7i illustrates self-timer operation selected by
Self-Timer Button.
Low battery symbol “ ” (fig 7j) will appear continuously to remind that battery should be replaced as soon as
possible. The blinking symbol “ ” (fig 7k) warns that the shutter is inhibited and no more pictures can be taken
until depleted battery is replaced.
When last picture on the roll of film has been taken, the camera will automatically rewind the film and the
decrementing frame numbers 39, 38 etc will appear on
LCD Panel until “0” is reached (fig 7l).
G) LOADING FILM
Precautions:
• This camera’s motorised film transport operates only when there is a film inside and adequately fresh batteries
are installed.
• Use only
Advanced Photo System colour negative film.
• Only unexposed film can be used. Film cassette showing “ ” indicates that film is unexposed (refer to fig 3).
• Do NOT try to open
Film Door while film is loaded (but not fully rewound). Frame number in LCD Panel
indicates film is loaded.
Loading film
• Turn camera ON by pressing On/Off switch and observe
LCD Panel to check status. Frame counter will
display “ - - ” to indicate no film is loaded. NOTE: Film may be loaded without turning ON the On/Off switch
but the above step is recommended to check camera battery status before proceeding with film loading.
• Turn the
Film Door Lock Switch (19) following arrow indication to “Open” position and swing Film Door (18)
fully open (fig 8).
• Take an unexposed film (indicator must show “ ” at position “1”) and insert completely into the film
compartment (fig 9). Press the
Film Door closed and following arrow indication turn the Film Door Lock
Switch to “Close” position.
• The film will automatically advance to the first frame. The frame counter will display the number of frames
remaining on the roll.
• Camera is ready for picture-taking.
H) FILM SPEED SETTING
“Low” and “High” film speed facility is incorporated in the camera, which will automatically set camera to correct
film speed when ISO100 or ISO 200 film is loaded. The camera sets to ISO200 (high) setting when any faster
film (above ISO 200 speed) is used.
I) SELECTING PRINT TYPE
You can select from 3 print formats. Use the
Print Type Selector Switch (11) to choose the print type that best
suits the subject you are photographing (fig 10).
- Classic
Traditional 3:2 format with 3½ x 5 inches (9 x 13 cm) typical print size.
- H.D. TV
This wider view matches High Definition TV format and includes more of the scene in
your picture with 3½ x 6 inches (9 x 15 cm) typical print.
- Panorama
Panoramic format with 3½ x 10 inches (9 x 25 cm) typical print.
With each selection the viewfinder will suit the print size, clearly showing the scene you will shoot.
NOTE: Although the prints you initially receive will be in the format you select, your negatives are capable of
printing any of the 3 formats. You may select a different format when ordering reprints. Consult your
photo finisher for details.
J) MODE SELECTION
Use
Mode Button (16) to select among following modes:
Press
Mode Button (16) until desired mode appears on LCD Panel. After picture has been taken, the different
modes remain selected until camera is turned off.
K) TAKING PICTURES - OUTDOORS
• Press
On/Off Switch (2) to turn on camera.
•
“Wait” Light (10) just above viewfinder will glow red while flash is charging. Simultaneously, flash symbol
“
” will blink on LCD Panel (fig 7d). When red
”Wait” Light turns off (and blinking flash symbol “
”
remains steady), flash is fully charged and camera is ready for picture taking.
• View the subject through the viewfinder and select the most suitable print format by moving the
Print Type
Selector Switch (11) to
,
or
setting. A frame appropriate to each of the 3 formats will
appear to assist your framing of the shot.
• Bring the subject closer or widen the scene (shifting subject further away) by zooming the lens. Press and
hold
“Tele” (13) or “Wide” (12) Zooming Switches until desired aspect is attained.
• Check that you are the correct distance from your subject i.e. not closer than 0.8m (2.5’) on wide setting and
not nearer than 1.5m (5’) on Tele setting and, if in dull light, not outside the flash range (fig 11).
• Hold camera steady taking care that fingers or hair do not intrude in front of
Lens (7), Flash (4), Auto Focus
Lenses (3) or Cds Sensor (6). Press the Shutter Release Button (1) to take the picture.
• The
Flash (4) will fire automatically if required to brighten the scene.
• After picture has been taken the film will automatically advance to the next frame and the flash will
automatically recharge. Blinking flash symbol on
LCD Panel and red “Wait” Light above viewfinder indicate
camera is charging. The shutter will be inhibited until the circuit is fully charged.
NOTE: After picture-taking it is recommended to switch off the power to save battery power and retract lens for
best protection. The power will be automatically turned off 3 minutes after last use.
TIPS FOR BETTER PHOTOGRAPHS
• For better results in some lighting conditions where flash will not automatically fire, fill flash may be required.
See paragraph N) “FLASH PICTURES”
• At very low light levels the red eye reduction feature may be needed. Refer to N) “FLASH PICTURES” for
more details.
• In some picture taking situations such as shooting through a window, where the camera will automatically
focus on the window instead of the desired scene outdoors, infinity (long distance) focus may be desired for
better picture result. The flash will also be inhibited in this mode. Hence “
” symbol also appears. Refer to
M) “INFINITY FOCUS”.
L) AUTO FOCUS LOCK
The camera’s autofocus system will focus on whatever is in the centre area of the picture. If your main subject is
near the edge of the picture, or for artistic composition you wish to position your subject off centre, you can use
the autofocus lock feature.
1. Centre your main subject in the auto focus frame in the viewfinder (fig 12).
2. Depress and hold the
Shutter Release Button halfway to lock the focus.
3. While still holding the
Shutter Release Button halfway down, recompose the picture as you desire it and take
the shot.
M) INFINITY FOCUS
This mode is useful for shooting distant subjects through a window, screen, bars or netting where the camera’s
autofocus system would normally focus on the nearby transparent or translucent material.
Activate infinity focus by pressing
Mode Button until infinity focus symbol “
” (fig 7h) appears on LCD. It will
appear in conjunction with no flash symbol “
” (as flash is disabled in this mode). Scenery or far away
subjects may then be captured in sharp focus even when bright reflections prevent normal autofocus picture-
taking.
After picture has been taken, the camera will remain in selected mode i.e. Infinity focus mode. To revert to auto
or other mode press
Mode Button.
