5. Plug in the wheel speed sensor into the HECU.
6. Route the wiring down to the sensor bracket.
7. Insert the sensor into the bracket.
8. Install the fastener and torque to specification.
TORQUE
ABS Sensor Fastener (INTL):
8 lb-ft (11 Nm)
9. Adjust the wheel speed sensor air gap. See Wheel
Speed Sensor Air Gap Adjustment (INTL)page 9.18
WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AIR GAP
ADJUSTMENT (INTL)
For the ABS system to work properly the gap between
the tone ring and sensor must be set to a specific value.
Adjusting wheel speed must be done for all four sensors.
Two sensors are located on the right and left hand side of
the transmission. Two sensor are located on right and left
hand side of the front gearcase.
Air Gap Specification
0.8–1.0 mm
1. Loosen the Allen head fasteners

securing the
wheel speed sensor bracket to the gearcase.
NOTICE
The wheel speed sensor bracket fastener holes are
slotted for easy adjustment and do not require the
fasteners to be removed. The fasteners must be loose
enough that the bracket is able to move freely up and
down.
2. Insert a feeler gauge of the correct specification
between the sensor and the tone ring.
