Encountering Vessels
There are three main situations in which you may encounter other
vessels:
S
Overtaking (passing)
S
Meeting (approaching another vessel head-on)
S
Crossing (traveling across another vessel’s path)
Overtaking Vessels
If your watercraft is passing another vessel, your craft is the give-way
vessel. The other vessel is expected to maintain its course and speed.
You must not interfere with its course of travel.
If your craft is the stand-on vessel, maintain your course and speed
until the other vessel has passed you.
