Overview:
The TETRIX MAX RangerMAX Bot is a fundamental
starting point for learning how to make a basic
mobile robot chassis. Through step-by-step building
instructions, students are introduced to TETRIX MAX
building elements and grounded in core building
skills needed to successfully take full advantage of
the TETRIX building system. This build is intended for
students who have little or no experience with metal-based
building systems using traditional nut-and-bolt-fastening techniques.
Students are also introduced to the basics of a simple stand-alone electrical
system and wireless remote control.
How It Works:
The TETRIX MAX RangerMAX Bot build uses two 12 VDC motors mounted in opposition to provide a
good example of a basic differential-drive robot. Two omni wheel assemblies are utilized to provide
efficient pivoting abilities and highlight the versatility of this type of assembly. Students can explore
the performance dynamic created by the differential drive and omni wheel combination with the
wireless remote control. Students are also introduced to the dynamic created via simple user-interface
controls on the supplied Wireless Joystick Gamepad System (40239).

Time Expectations:
50-75 minutes
Note: Many factors can affect building time, including such things as set organization and whether
the builder has a partner. The above time is only an estimate and is based on an individual builder of
average experience who is comfortable with hands-on building activities and has access to complete,
well-organized sets. Actual time might vary.
