PILOT PA-200T Intercom, PA-200EXP Expansion Module
2.0 Cell Phone
Our latest enhancement to our proven intercom is the addition of cell phone cord with jack. This will allow the pilot to use their cell phone
though the intercom while still wearing a headset. Some cell phones may require an adapter which can be purchased at most electronic
stores. This cell phone feature also provides the pilot with a back-up for the aircraft radio in case of a malfunction.
The intercom comes with one cord fitted with a 2.5mm plug on one end and a 3.5mm plug on the opposite end. The 3.5mm plug at the end
of the cord is plugged into the jack marked CELL PHONE. The 2.5mm plug end is then plugged into your cell phone. Your cell phone
may require a cell phone adapter which can be purchased at a local electronics store. If the pilot does not want the co-pilot to hear the cell
phone conversation, the squelch needs to be turned all the way counterclockwise. The pilot can then talk in a low voice and their co-pilot
will not hear them because the co-pilot’s headset will block out any noise or conversation.
Air Traffic Control will always be more intelligible (louder) than music or incoming cell phone conversation allowing the pilot to always
hear ATC transmissions.
2.1 Fail-Safe Feature
All the PILOT 200 models of intercoms are equipped the Fail-Safe feature. This means if your battery fails, you will still be able to hear
ATC transmission but the level of volume will be reduced. As long as the intercom is in turned On, you will hear ATC transmission
through the intercom system.
2.2 PTT / Y-Adapter
Up to 2 portable PTT switches can be used with the unit, The Pilot and Co-Pilot can connect a portable PTT switch by connecting the
portable PTT to microphone jack in the Y-adapter. The Y-adapter plugs directly into the aircraft’s microphone jack. The PTT is used to
transmit over the radio to ATC. The PTT can also be connected, in the conventional way, in series with your headset and your intercom
jacks.
2.3 Battery Power
We recommend using one 9V alkaline battery to operate your intercom. The intercom will operate on one battery for approximately 25-30
hours of maintenance free use. We recommend that you keep a log of when your battery was installed so that you have a good idea when
it should be replaced.
2.4 Expansion Module (PA-200EXP)
There is a module available that will allow your PA-200T intercom to be converted to a 4-place intercom. It comes with an expansion box
and cord that plugs directly into the jack labeled Passengers on the PA-200T intercom. When using the expansion module, it is
recommended a 2
nd
9V battery by inserted in the expansion module.
