GOCCLES®
è un dispositivo innovativo che permette un esame rapido, non invasivo, indolore
della cavità orale, in grado di rivelare la presenza di potenziali lesioni cancerose e pre-cancerose
DESTINAZIONE D’USO
Tale dispositivo permette l'esame dell'autofluorescenza del cavo orale al fine di individuare lesioni
displasiche o anaplastiche (carcinomi della mucosa orale).
Mentre la visualizzazione del cavo orale ad occhio nudo può far emergere solo una piccola frazione
delle caratteristiche spettrali che differenziano il tessuto sano da quello malato, le metodiche ottiche
basate sull'autofluorescenza dei tessuti migliorano la capacità di individuare lesioni cancerose nel
cavo orale.
Il fluoroforo di interesse è la flavina adenina dinucleotide (FAD), che nella sua forma ossidata
risponde ad una luce di 450nm (blu-violetto) emettendo una fluorescenza della lunghezza d'onda di
515nm (verde). Nel tessuto tumorale la fluorescenza della FAD ossidata irradiata con luce blu-
violetta diminuisce a causa delle alterazioni nel metabolismo delle cellule affette.
Il dispositivo è primariamente pensato per gli odontoiatri, ma anche medici (patologi orali, chirurghi
maxillo-facciali). Viene usato ambulatorialmente; si richiede disponibilità di comunemente lampada
foto polimerizzante con spettro di radianza compreso tra 380 e 500nm.

possono alterare l'effetto di fluorescenza (es. assunzione di liquirizia, caffè)
USO NON CONFORME
Il dispositivo non deve essere modificato nella sua struttura. Ciò può comportare risultati errati, rischi
di sicurezza e la distruzione dell'apparecchio. Il dispositivo deve essere impiegato soltanto secondo
le indicazioni descritte. Usi divergenti necessitano dell'autorizzazione scritta di PIERREL.

La garanzia decade quando

CONTROLLO ALLA CONSEGNA
Controllare l'imballaggio subito alla consegna, nonché l'apparecchio durante il disimballaggio se
presentino eventuali danni esterni visibili.
ISTRUZIONI
Il dispositivo deve essere indossato il più possibile vicino al viso in modo che la luce esterna non
giunga agli occhi dell'operatore. Il cordino può essere regolato a discrezione dell'operatore, ma
sempre di modo che lo strumento aderisca pienamente al volto. L'operatore o un suo assistente avrà
cura di illuminare la cavità orale con una lampada fotopolimerizzante rispondente alle seguenti
caratteristiche:

PULIZIA
L' articolo può essere pulito facendo uso di acqua corrente ed asciugato con un panno morbido non
abrasivo; lenti con trattamento anti-appannante devono essere pulite facendo uso esclusivamente di

INTENDED USE
GOCCLES
is intended to be used by qualified health-care providers to enhance the identification and
visualization of the oral mucisal abnormalietes the may not be apparent or visible
MECHANISM OF ACTION
This device allows the examination of auto-fluorescence of the oral cavity in order to enhance the
identification and visualization of the oral mucosal abnormalities that may not be apparent or visible
to the naked eye, such as oral cancer and premalignant dysplasia. The G.o.c.c.l.e.s.-based
examination is thus recommended as complementary methodology to be used together with the
standard naked eye-based examination.
While the visualization of the oral cavity with the naked eye can make out only a small fraction of the
spectral characteristics that differentiate healthy tissue from the diseased one, the optical methods
based on tissue auto-fluorescence improves the ability to detect cancerous lesions in the oral cavity.
The fluorophore interested is the flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD), which in its oxidized form
responds to a light of 450nm (blue-violet) emitting a fluorescence wavelength around 515nm .In
cancer cells tissue fluorescence of the oxidized FAD irradiated with light blue-violet decreases due to
alterations in the metabolism of the affected cells . Accordingly the G.o.c.c.l.e.s. has to be used with
its compatible light source “G.o.c.c.l.e.s. light” that is characterized by an emission range of 440-490
nm including the excitation peak of FAD.
CONTRAINDICATION
No limitation or contraindication of use is known.
Attention!
Before conducting the examination you must ensure that the patient has not ingested
substances that can alter the effect of fluorescence (eg: assumption of licorice , coffee, other
pigments)
NON-CONFORMING USE
The device must not be modified in its structure. This may lead to erroneous results, safety risk and
the damage of the device.
The device may only be used according to the described conditions. Different uses must be

STAFF TRAINING
For the use and maintenance of the product, the specialized medical staff must apply and observe the

CHECKING AT THE DELIVERY

INSTRUCTION
The device has to be worn in adherence to the face, avoiding external light to reach the operator's
eyes. Use the provided neck cord to optimize the fitting. Conduct the intra-oral examination using
Goccles® eyewear in combination with a dental curing light with the following characteristics

emission peak between 440 and 480 nm.
CLEANING
The article can be cleaned using running water and dried with a soft non-abrasive cloth; lenses with
anti- fog coating should only be cleaned using a soft cloth.

EINSATZBEREICH
Die Brille ermöglicht eine Untersuchung der Autofluoreszenz der Mundhöhle, genauer die
Identifizierung und Sichtbarmachung von Abweichungen der Mundschleimhaut, welche mit dem
bloßem Auge nicht zu oder nur schwer zu erkennen sind. Als Beispiel können hier Mundkrebs
oder eine bösartige Vorstufe von Dysplasie genannt werden.
Mit bloßem Auge ist es in der Regel nicht möglich gesundes von krankem Gewebe zu
unterscheiden. Macht man sich jedoch die Eigenschaften der optischen Methoden der
Autofluoreszenz von Gewebe zunutze, erhöht sich die Möglichkeit krebsartige Veränderungen in
der Mundhöhle zu erkennen deutlich.
Das verwendete Luminophor ist das Flavin-Adenin-Dinukleotid (FAD), welches in seiner
oxidierten Form auf ein Licht von 450 nm (blau-violett) reagiert und eine Fluoreszenz Wellenlänge
von 515 nm (grün) emittiert. Die Brille ist hauptsächlich für Zahnärzte
bestimmt, findet aber auch eine breite Anwendung in der Oralchirurgie, der MKG-Chirurgie, sowie
in der Pathologie.
Es wird auf ambulanter Basis verwendet und erfordert die Zusammenarbeit mit einer Lichtquelle,
welche ein Strahlenspektrum zwischen 400nm und 500nm sendet.
