5.3 Even / Odd Exposure Mode

5.3

Even / Odd Exposure Mode

In the Odd / Even Exposure Mode the odd and even columns have a different exposure time.

The purpose of the Even / Odd Exposure Mode is to increase the dynamic range of an image
and therefore increase the image information at the cost of a lower horizontal resolution. By
using two different exposure times, image information in bright image areas is visible in the
odd columns (small exposure time) where they are saturated in the even columns. On the other
hand, image information in dark image areas is visible in the even columns (long exposure
time) where they are black in the odd columns.

The Odd / Even Exposure Mode is enabled by setting the property

EnOddEven

. When this

property is enabled then the property

ExposureTime

specifies the exposure time for the even

columns and

ExposureTimeOdd

for the odd columns.

ExposureTimeOdd

must not be bigger than

ExposureTime

.

The exposure of the even and odd columns is timed in such a way that they end at the same
time (see Fig. 5.24).
