2.4.2 Loading the Ink Ribbon

Loading the ink ribbon • Open the cover.
• If necessary, clean the printhead and the label edge sensor before loading the ink
ribbon (see page 4-4).
• Turn lever (1) counter clockwise to lift the printhead.
• Slide the ink ribbon reel (3) onto the ribbon supply hub (4) so that the color coating of
the foil faces downwards when being unwound.
• Hold the ink ribbon reel (3) and turn the knob on the ribbon supply hub (4) counter
clockwise until the ink ribbon reel is secured.
• Suitable ink ribbon core is supplied ready-mounted on the ribbon take-up hub (2). On
subsequent ink ribbon change, the empty ink ribbon core of the ink ribbon reel must
be slid onto the ribbon take-up hub (2) and secured.
• Guide ink ribbon through the print unit as shown in Figure 2-3.
• Secure the starting end of the ink ribbon to the ribbon take-up hub (2) with adhesive
tape. Ensure counter clockwise direction of the ribbon take-up hub here.
• Turn ribbon take-up hub (2) counter clockwise to smooth out the feed path of the ink
ribbon.
• Turn lever (1) clockwise to lock the printhead.

If the error message
Out of ribbon
appears in the display, it is possible that the ink
ribbon reel or ribbon take-up hub are not secured correctly.
