Mounting the Tuner Module (TUM)

Introduction

The Tuner Module (TUM) is for use in the SM 25B Booster Frames and Module Extension
Frames (MXF). It contains an FM tuner with four preset stations. It is used to provide back-
ground music in public address applications. The music output of the TUM is fed to a CSM
(LBB 2511/10) auxiliary input. A block diagram is shown in Fig. 1.1.

Note:

A TUM operates in a Booster Frame (or MXF). Refer also to the Installation Instructions for

these modules.

Front panel (fig. 1.2):
1.

Power indicator (green LED) (item 1)

2.  Frequency meter (item 2)
3.  Tuning controls (item 3)
4.  Tuner preset selector/off control (item 4)

Rear panel (fig. 1.3):
5.

Aerial connector (coaxial) (item 5)

A green LED indicates that power is present in the TUM. A frequency meter calibrated in
MHz is used for tuning. Refer to fig. 1.2.

Controls
Four preset FM channels can be tuned from rotary controls on the front panel. A five position
rotary switch is used to select the four pre-set stations, or turn the tuner off.

Configurable functionality
The TUM has a volume control potentiometer on the PCB.
The TUM has an automatic frequency control (AFC) on/off switch on the PCB.
