Step-by-step installation

Go to part
"B"
of this Quick Install Guide only if your computer does not yet have a drive for starting CD 1.

Place CD 1 in your computer's drive. It should start automatically.
If not, double-click "My Computer", double-click the "Philips_RW" drive icon and double-click "Setup.exe" to start CD 1.

After the installation program on CD 1 has started, follow its on-screen directions for installing your new Philips drive.
Apple MacOS users:
Please consult the readme file in the root folder.

Only use these drive connection instructions if your computer does not yet have a drive for starting CD 1.

Download the driver software from the Internet at
www.pcstuff.philips.com/downloads/products/IW_Ext_Update.exe

There you will find a driver file and a help file. Please consult this help file for further instructions.

Take the cable for the interface you have chosen to use and plug it into the appropriate connector on the drive.

Plug the other end of the cable into the appropriate connector on your PC.
Always consult your computer manual for assistance.

Plug the small power plug into the drive.

Plug the mains adapter into the mains socket and, if applicable, use the on/off button to switch on the drive. Then complete the 'Add/Found New Hardware Wizard' dialog and
refer to the location to which you downloaded the driver file when asked for the location of any driver files.

Go to part
"A"
of this Quick Install Guide and start CD 1 in your new external drive to be able to verify your installation and to install application software.
