PART 7: WHAT SHOULD I DO WHEN...
If you notice problems with your appliance or if you fi nd that the appliance is not working properly, you can
remedy some of the most common faults yourself prior to contacting an authorised service centre. Check the
appliance and proceed according to the instructions below before contacting an authorised service centre.
WARNING!
Do not attempt to repair the appliance on your own. If the problem persists after performing the
inspection, please contact an authorised service centre, a qualifi ed technician or the vendor from whom
you purchased the appliance.
Problem
Possible cause and solution.
The appliance
is not working
properly.
Check that the power cord is correctly connected to the power socket.
Check that there is power in the fuse or circuit, replace as necessary.
Ambient temperature is too low. Set a lower temperature.
It is normal for the freezer not to be in operation during automatic defrosting or for
a short time after being turned on; this protects the compressor.
Unpleasant odour
It is necessary to clean the inside area of the appliance.
Certain foods, containers or wrapped foods may cause unpleasant odours.
Noise from the
appliance
Certain noises are completely normal:
•
Operation of the compressor.
•
Noise of air fl owing from the fan in the freezer or in other parts of the appliance.
•
Gurgling similar to the sound of water boiling.
•
Banging during automatic defrosting.
•
Click before the compressor starts running.
Other unusual noises may be caused for the following reasons and may indicate that
you should check the appliance:
•
The appliance is not levelled.
•
The rear part is touching a wall.
•
Bottles or containers have fallen or are rolling around.
The compressor is
running non-stop.
It is normal to hear the compressor motor, which under the following conditions may
run more than normal:
•
Temperature is lower than usual.
•
You have placed a larger amount of hot food into the appliance at once.
•
The temperature inside the appliance is too high.
•
The door was opened for an extended period of time.
•
You have just installed the appliance or it was turned on for a longer time.
A layer of ice has
appeared in the
freezer.
Check whether air circulation has been blocked, and make sure that food is located in
such a way that proper ventilation is ensured. Check that the door is fully closed. To
remove ice deposits, follow the instructions in the chapter Cleaning and care.
