Place one end of the Boundary Wire into the Boundary
4.
Wire Channel on the Barrier Transmitter. The wire should
touch the threads of one of the screws in the channel.
Once you have placed the wire, tighten the screw (5C).
Repeat this step to connect the other end of the
boundary wire to the opposite side of the second screw.
Make sure the bare wires do not touch each other.
Place the batteries back into the transmitter and
5.
carefully bend the wires so they fi t through the groove
on the battery door (5D).

Test the Barrier Area
Refer to Step 3 on page 6 for instructions on how to test the Barrier Area. Keep the
following in mind when testing the range using the wire option:
Start with the range set to 3 segments and adjust the range up to 6 segments to get your
•
desired coverage. Press the (+) button 3 times to set the range to 3 segments.
When holding the Receiver Collar to check the range, walk toward the Boundary Wire
•
instead of the Barrier Transmitter.
Once you are satisfi ed that your system is functioning properly and you are receiving
the desired barrier coverage, you are ready to bury the Boundary Wire. If the Receiver
Collar did not beep or the Test Light did not fl ash, see the “Troubleshooting” section.
Install the Boundary Wire
For best results, bury the Boundary Wire to protect it. The Boundary Wire can be placed
under mulch, however, be sure that the Boundary Wire is placed in low traffi c areas to
reduce the risk of wire damage.
To Bury the Boundary Wire
Cut a trench 1-3 inches deep along your planned boundary.
1.
Place the Boundary Wire into the trench maintaining some slack to allow it to expand
2.
and contract with temperature variations.
Use a blunt tool such as a wooden paint stick to push the Boundary Wire into the
3.
trench. Be careful not to damage the Boundary Wire insulation.
