Lap/Shoulder Belt
The combination lap-shoulder belt is
equipped with a locking mechanism.
The system adjusts automatically to a
person's size and movements as long
as the pull on the belt is slow.
Hard braking or a collision locks the
belt. The belt will also lock when
driving up or down a steep hill or in a
sharp curve.
To fasten the belt:
1.
Grasp the belt tongue.
2.
Pull belt in a continuous slow
motion across your chest and lap.
3.
Insert belt tongue into buckle on
inboard side of seat.
4.
Push down until the tongue is
securely locked with an audible
click.
5.
Pull belt to check for proper
fastening and adjustment, as
follows:
•
Pull shoulder section to make sure
belt fits snugly across the chest
and pelvis.
•
There should be less than 1 inch
(25 mm) gap between the body
and the belt.
•
The shoulder belt must be
positioned over the shoulder, it
must never rest against the neck
or be worn under the arm.
•
Make sure any slack is wound up
on the retractor and that the belt
is not twisted.
To unfasten the belt:
1.
Push in the release button on the
buckle.
2.
The belt will spring out of the
buckle.
