18.5. Steering lock
When in rail mode there will always be either the Red or Green Steering Lock LED
illuminated. When the Red LED is illuminated the steering will function as per
standard. When the Green LED is illuminated the steering will be locked. The
steering lock is isolated from the emergency stop system. The steering lock will not
function in road mode.
18.6. Brake test (COP0014 instructions)
A calibrated load cell must be used to record the payload applied to the Kubota and
to determine the load required to move the assembly when fully loaded and brakes
are fully applied.
Gross weight: 400kg (Tub / Load) + 200kg ( Passenger) = 2070kg
Pull test load required: 2070kg x 8% = 165.6kg (Rounded up to 170kg)
1. Check that the calibration record for the load cell is not out of date.
2. Check that the certification of the Kubota is current and to the latest issue of
RIS-1530-PLT.
3. Mount the Kubota onto the track and apply the handbrake.
4. Load the Kubota to the GVM as per loads above.
5. Connect the Kubota through the load cell to a winch or means of pulling the
vehicle.
6. Pull the Kubota and record the load at which the Kubota wheels start to turn,
or the load required to move the Kubota if the wheels remain locked or the
pull test load required has been achieved. The minimum load acceptable is
170kg.
7. Do not use if the minimum load cannot be achieved.
8. Retain all records of the testing performed on TM032.
18.7. Horn
With the main engine running at full RPM, activate the horn and measure sound
level at quadrants around the machine. Record values with the horn sounding and
without. Difference must be at least 10db.
18.8. Rail Wheel Checks
Rail Wheels which do not run true on the tread and flange will vibrate and give a
rough ride. If the vehicle vibrates and gives a rough ride on rail, there may be foreign
matter (dirt, rust, paint, etc.) between the wheel and hub, the spindle bearings may
