Using the Polarizer
1.
Remove the snap-in cover that masks the aperture for the infrared polarizer (Figure 29).
2.
Slide the analyzer into the vertical slot on the sample holder that can be seen through
this aperture.
The flat side of the analyzer must be towards the rear of the microscope, and the wheel
facing outwards.

Push the analyzer into the slot until it stops.
4.
Turn the wheel to orient the polarizing element.
CAUTION
The polarizer element is extremely fragile. Do not touch it with anything.
It cannot be washed, dusted, or blown upon by air. If damaged, it
cannot be repaired. When it is not in use, protect it in the case supplied.
NOTE:
Both the scribed line and the uneven coloration are usual, and do not affect the
performance of the element.
