A Guided Tour of the Frontier IR Dual-Range
Spectrometers
PerkinElmer Frontier IR Dual-Range spectrometers are bench-top FT-IR instruments
(Figure 3). Fully optimized performance is achieved by the provision of dual beamsplitters,
dual sources (Frontier FT-IR/FT-NIR only) and dual detectors.

For the MIR configuration:
•
The optical system enables you to collect data over a total range of 7800 to 350 cm
−1
with a best resolution of 0.4 cm
−1
.
• A DTGS (deuterated triglycine sulfate) MIR detector or an MCT (mercury cadmium
telluride) detector is fitted.
• KBr windows are fitted in the sample compartment.
For the NIR configuration:
•
The optical system enables you to collect data over a total range of 14700 to 1250 cm
−1
with a best resolution of 0.4 cm
−1
.
•
An NIR DTGS (deuterated triglycine sulfate) detector is fitted.
•
KBr windows are fitted in the sample compartment.
For the FIR configuration:
• The optical system enables you to collect data over a total range of 700 to 30 cm
−1
with
a best resolution of 0.4 cm
−1
.
• An FIR DTGS (deuterated triglycine sulfate) detector is fitted.
•
A PE (polyethylene) window and a PE/D (polyethylene/diamond) window are supplied to
be fitted in the sample compartment for operation in the FIR range.
The instrument can operate in ratio, single-beam, or interferogram mode.
