XMC Module Switches
(continued)
Switch
SW1
provides user control over the FPGA MGT clocks used for the XMC inter−
face. The following table shows the settings for this switch.
Model 78741 is shipped with a default FPGA configuration on FLASH memory, which
is loaded at power−up. Up to four FPGA configurations can be stored in FLASH, iden−
tified as Version 0, Version 1, Version 2, and Version 3. The default FPGA configuration
is located in the Version 0 space. The other three positions are empty. The board is
shipped with the FPGA configuration SW (
SW1-2
) set to ON, which sets the board’s
maximum speed to Gen 3. However, the board can negotiate down to Gen 2 or Gen 1
x4, as needed. Note that Gen 3 requires about 2 watts power more than Gen 2.

(factory use only) selects whether all JTAG-linked components on the board are inserted into the JTAG
chain or whether only the Virtex-7 is in the JTAG chain. Only the Virtex-7 can be user modified. Customers
should maintain the factory setting of “bypassed”. When not bypassed, JTAG activity may affect the PCIe link.
