This allows you to deliberately overexpose (brighten) or under-expose
(darken) your picture.
Select 1/3 EV or 1/2 EV in [1. EV Steps] in the [
A
Custom Setting 1] menu.
You can adjust the EV compensation from –5 to +5 (EV).

Turn the rear e-dial (
S
) while
pressing the
m
button.
The exposure is adjusted.
m
is displayed on the LCD panel and in
the viewfinder during compensation.
Press the
m
button to confirm the
compensation value.
The EV compensation value is reset
to 0.0 when the
|
(Green) button is
pressed while holding down the
m
button.
Adjusting the Exposure
EV compensation is not available when the exposure mode is set to
B
(Green) or
p
(Bulb) mode.
• To set the EV compensation, you can also press the
m
button once and take
your finger off the button, and then turn the rear e-dial (
S
) to change the
EV compensation. In this case, press the
m
button again or turn off the
exposure metering timer (p.114) to set the EV compensation.
• The EV compensation is not canceled by turning the camera off or by setting
any other exposure mode.
