Acoustic Pressure Mat with alarm or door chime
useable as visitor’s chime or cat doorbell.

Function of the Acoustic Pressure Mat

The pressure mat contains a sensor foil. If the mat is pressed down, it will
trigger a signal at the alarm unit which is connected to the mat with a cable.

Areas of Application

•

As an alarm or visitor chime

Protects your home or shop effectively and discretely. Can be used al-
most anywhere. Simply place the mat under a carpet or doormat. The
alarm unit is connected to the pressure mat with a thin wire and can the-
refore be placed remotely in an optimal position. You can choose bet-
ween a loud alarm siren or a chime.
•

As a "Cat Doorbell”

Instead of having to keep checking if your cat has finally come home:
when your cat sits on the mat in front of the closed door (e.g. front door,
back door or patio door), you will hear the door chime inside the house.
Simply place the mat under a doormat (or a towel) in front of the door and
the alarm unit inside the house.
• The chime sounds inside, the cat will not be disturbed by the noise.
• Ideal for virtually all entrance doorways. However do not expose the

mat to rain or water.

Place the mat under a soft doormat or a towel (not supplied) that
your cat likes to sit on. However do not expose the mat to rain or
water.

Safety Instructions

Read this users manual carefully before installing or using your
acoustic pressure mat. Check the pressure mat alarm for dama-
ge. Do not operate a damaged unit!
Only use the acoustic pressure mat alarm in dry locations in-
doors or in a protected location outdoors. Do not expose the
unit to rain or water.
Leaking or damaged batteries can cause damage to your skin
when touching them. In this case, use appropriate safety gloves.
If the unit is not used for a longer period of time, remove the
battery from the battery compartment.
Before drilling holes, check the wall for concealed electric cables.
This appliance is not intended to be used by people (including
children) with restricted physical, sensory or mental capacities,
or a lack of experience and/or knowledge, unless they are super-
vised by or receive instructions how to use the appliance from a
person responsible for their safety. Children must be supervised
in order to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.
Do not let children play with the units. Make sure that children
do not take individual parts into their mouth.

Disposing of the Unit

ducts as household waste. Please use your recycling system.

Connecting the Cable

Connect the two-core cable of the alarm
unit with the one of the pressure mat by joi-
ning the plugtype connectors at the ends of
the cables together until they lock.

Inserting the Battery

• Push the lid of the battery compartment

on the front of the alarm unit down (see
fig. 1).

• Attach a 9V alkaline block battery (not

supplied) to the battery clip.

• Insert the battery into the battery com-

partment.

• Close the lid of the battery compartment.

Positioning the Acoustic pressure mat

Smooth out the pressure mat, and lay it flat on the floor.
•

Use as alarm or visitor’s chime

Choose the area you want to secure – e.g. within the entrance area, at the
top or bottom of stairs or in front of an area you want to secure, e.g. a sto-
reroom. The pressure mat must be completely covered with a carpet or a
doormat.
•

Use as a cat doorbell

Place the pressure mat where your cat usually enters the house. The pres-
sure mat must be completely covered with a doormat or a soft towel that
your cat likes to sit on (see fig. 2).

If the floor or the underside of the carpet or doormat is very une-
ven, malfunctions may occur.
Do not use a very stiff carpet or doormat, as the acoustic pres-
sure mat point concentrated pressure.
The mat must always lay flat on an even surface. It must not be
placed on sharp objects such as stone chippings, as this can
lead to malfunction or damage to the pressure mat.
If the mat is to be used in a cold environment lay the mat unfol-
ded on a flat surface in a warm room for several hours before the
first use.

Positioning the Alarm Unit

• When planning the location of the alarm unit, take into account the

length of the cable.

• The alarm unit can be placed near the pressure mat or further away. You

can lengthen the cable (10 m) up to a maximum of 30 m.

• If you wish to lead the cable through a door, simply lay the cable over

the bottom of the door frame making sure this will not affect the closing
or the use of the door or damage the cable.

The cable must not be jammed over sharp edges. If necessary,
protect the cable with insulating tape.
Fix the cable carefully, so that there is no danger of tripping.

When using the acoustic pressure mat as a cat doorbell, try the unit with
your cat. If your cat is disturbed by the noise of the alarm, you should
locate the alarm unit further away.

Mounting the Alarm Unit

The alarm unit may be placed on the floor or fixed to a wall.
For wall mounting, use the screws and plugs supplied.
• Drill two holes in vertical position with a hole spacing of 44 mm.
• Fix the plugs.
• The screws should not be fully tightened so that the alarm unit can be

hooked on them.

• Now hook the alarm unit onto the screws.

Operating Instructions

If you move the switch from "0” to chime (quiet or loud), a chime will
sound.
The switch can be moved to four different positions:
1.

When the acoustic pressure mat is activated, a loud chime will
sound.

2.

When the acoustic pressure mat is activated, a quiet chime will
sound.

3.

You can deactivate the signal by turning the switch to "0”.
When pressure is applied to the mat, neither a chime nor an
alarm will sound.

4.

When the acoustic pressure mat is activated, an alarm will
sound. It will stop automatically after 30 seconds. After that, the
acoustic pressure mat alarm is operative again. When pressure
is applied to the mat, the alarm will sound again.
The signal is activated only when the alarm unit is switched on
and the mat is pressed. As long as a cat sits still on the mat the-
re will be no chime. Only when the cat stands up to leave the
mat, the chime will sound again.
The unit is especially sensitive and can also be triggered by ot-
her animals or even strong winds.
We recommend that the alarm unit should be switched off when
it is not required, especially at night, in order to eliminate distur-
bances.

Maintenance

• Keep the mat dry in order to prevent false triggering.
• A weak alarm sound or chime are a sign that the battery is reaching the

end of its life. The battery should then be replaced by a new one.

• You can clean the pressure mat and the alarm unit with a damp cloth.

Do not use any strong cleansing agents.

Many problems are caused by a drop in battery performance. If you should
have any problems, please try a new battery! Please also check all cable con-
nections.
