3.2 Discretionary measurement
In this exercise, you should first reference B with the measurement using measure then compare with measurements of the
measurement without using you to. They should develop a feel for how you hold the device properly to get a good result. We suggest
measuring an object with a uniform paint surface. In this case, you should measure a point with the B button, then again with the A
button on the same point. On the screen you will see how similar or different your results are. The result can be seen both visually on
the screen and in the form of a numeric value. This is the deviation delta E (AE). You should perform this exercise several times to get
the measurements on the same object and try to achieve the Delta E value of less than 1.
1. Take the device in the hand (so that the buttons are located above).
2. Holding the colorStriker parallel to the object/area to be measured quickly press the A button (measurement) or B (reference) once
while slowly approaching the object/area. Try to achieve the optimal distance of 15 mm in order to gain the most accurate
measurement.
3. Measure at a distance of 15 mm to the object. When the optimum distance is reached, the device will automatically transfer
the data to the computer and will emit a tone.
The color difference between reference and measurement is in the middle of the application and is shown as Delta E (AE) with
a displayed value.
4. Description of the software
colorStriker software is an easy-to-use PC software for Windows. colorStriker software allows visual representation of the measured
colors. With this software you can see the real color results accurately compare two color values, their results and save for later refe-
rence. You see exactly the color you have measured and not only a numerical value.
4.1 User Interface
The application window consists of six areas. At the top is the menu bar, including a large field with several applications. To the left
are the applications for the measurement of A and to the right for the reference B. In the middle, under the window with the color
difference Delta (AE), the measured colors will appear as you see it in the example screenshot.
Below is the status bar, their functions are described below.
3. Use of the colorStriker
