½” Nose Cone
The 079B21 is a ½” Nose Cone designed to be mounted on a ½” measurement microphone. The nose cone replaces the
protective grid cap. The nose cone reduces the aerodynamically induced noise when measuring in high-speed laminar
flows, as for example in wind tunnels. The noise cone should be pointed in the direction towards the wind flow.
The nose cone has been designed in accordance with specifications in NLR TP 96320

with a special aerodynamic shape to
minimize the pressure gradient at the screen position and maximize the boundary layer stability. The graph below shows
the free-field corrections curves when used with a 377B02 precision condenser microphone at various incident angles.
