winding crown
The winding crown is used to wind the watch
(position 1) and to set the time (position 2).
A number of Patek Philippe models are fitted with
a dynamometric winding crown that eliminates
any risk of damage to or failure of the winding
mechanism when the watch has reached the fully
wound state.
Should this be the case as you turn the crown,
you will notice a series of delicate clicks as soon
as the mainspring is fully wound. These clicks are
normal; they simply indicate that further winding
is no longer necessary.
