Specific torque specifications are provided by most com-
ponent manufacturers to prevent over tightening and
under tightening of bolts and nuts. Park Tool TW-5 and
TW-6 Torque Wrenches are high quality, ratcheting, click
type torque wrenches that accurately measure and apply
the proper amount of torque to a bolt or nut.

Torque Wrench Use:

1.   Determine required torque for threaded fastener

(consult component manufacturer for recommended
torque specifications).

2.   Flip ratchet lever to the right if turning wrench in a

clockwise direction. Flip ratchet lever to the left if
turning wrench in a counter-clockwise direction.

3.  Pull locking ring to “unlock” position.
4.  Turn locking ring until desired torque setting is dis-

played by cursor (red line) in scale window. For the
TW-5, major graduations on the scale are in two New-
ton Meter increments. For the TW-6, major graduations
on the scale are in four Newton Meter increments.

5.  Push locking ring to “lock” position.
6.   Install desired bit (not supplied) onto square head of

torque wrench. The TW-5 accepts 1/4” drive bits and
3/8” drive bits (with the included adapter). The TW-6
accepts 3/8” drive bits.

7.   Place bit and wrench onto bolt or nut to be tight-

ened. Grasp handle of torque wrench and turn
with steady force until a “click” is heard and/or
felt. Immediately release force from torque wrench
after “click”.

8.   Dial torque setting to lowest point on scale after

each use. Also, dial setting to lowest point when
storing torque wrench.

Calibration:

TW-5  and TW-6 Torque Wrenches  have

moving parts that may require service after extended
use. The wrench may be returned to Park Tool for inspec-
tion and recalibration at a reasonable charge. Visit www.
parktool.com or contact Park Tool at 651-777-6868 for
additional information.

Accuracy:

The TW-5 and TW-6 are calibrated to be ac-

curate to +/-4%.

Care:

The TW-5 and TW-6 are precision tools and should

be treated with care. Store carefully to avoid damage. Clean
with a dry cloth. Water and solvents should be avoided.

Warranty:

Park Tool Company backs the TW-5 and TW-6

Torque Wrenches with a one-year warranty.

Torque Conversion Table and Formulas:

The TW-5

and TW-6 measure torque in Newton Meters, which is
the force of one Newton on a lever that is one meter
long. A table on each wrench can be used to quickly
convert from Newton Meters to Inch Pounds, another
common unit of measure. Conversion formulas for

converting Newton Meters to Foot Pounds, Inch Pounds,
and Centimeter Kilograms are listed below:
