f)
Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly
maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting
edges are less likely to bind and are easier to
control.
g)
Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits
etc. in accordance with these instructions, tak-
ing into account the working conditions and
the work to be performed.
Use of the power
tool for operations different from those intended
could result in a hazardous situation.
h)
Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,
clean and free from oil and grease.
Slippery
handles and grasping surfaces do not allow
for safe handling and control of the tool in unex-
pected situations.
5. Service
a)
Have your power tool serviced by a qualified
repair person using only identical replace-
ment parts.
This will ensure that the safety of
the power tool is maintained.
CAUTION!
►
When using power tools, note the following
basic safety precautions to protect yourself
against electrical shock, injury and fire
hazards.
►
Read all these instructions before using this
power tool and store the safety instructions in
a safe place.
Safety instructions for bench
grinders
a)
Never use damaged accessory tools. Check
accessory tools such as grinding discs before
each use for chips or cracks and wire brushes
for loose or broken wires. When you have
checked and inserted the accessory tool,
ensure that you and any other people in the
vicinity remain outside of the range of the
rotating accessory tool and allow the tool to
rotate at maximum speed for one minute.
Damaged accessory tools usually break during
this test period.
b)
The maximum permissible speed of the
accessory tool used must be at least as high
as the maximum speed specified for the
power tool.
Accessories which rotate faster
than the maximum permissible rate can break
and throw pieces into the air.
a)
Be aware that brushes can lose wire bristles
even during ordinary operation. Do not
overstress the wires by applying excessive
pressure to the brush.
Flying wire bristles can
easily penetrate light clothing and/or skin.
d)
Never grind using the edge of the grinding
disc.
Grinding with the edge can cause
grinding discs to break and fly apart.
■
Before every use, make sure that the grinding
discs are in a usable condition.
Also carry out
a sound test to detect cracks. This is done by
gently tapping the disc with a non-metallic ham-
mer to the right and left of the vertical centre
line. The taps should cause a light “ringing
sound”. If the resulting sound is dull, the disc
should not be used.
■
Change the grinding wheel if the spark
deflectors can no longer be set to the required
distance of max. 2 mm from the grinding wheel.
■
Use the power tool only with accessory tools
mounted on both spindles. This prevents any
accidental contact with the rotating spindle.
■
Always use the protective cover, the tool rest,
the viewing window and the spark deflector as
required depending on the accessory tool used.
