2. Disconnect the power and data (ribbon) cables attached to the CD-
ROM drive.
Note
Note where these cables are attached to the CD-ROM drive so
that you can re-attach them to the new drive later.
3. Remove the four retaining screws holding the CD-ROM drive in
place.
4. Slide the CD-ROM drive out of the unit to the left.
Installing a CD-ROM Drive
To install a new CD-ROM drive, follow these steps:
1. Slide the new CD-ROM drive into the unit from the outside (left
to right).
2. Fasten the drive in place by replacing the four retaining screws
that you removed in step 3 above.
3. Re-attach to the CD-ROM drive the power and data cables that
you disconnected in step 2 of Removing a CD-ROM Drive, above.
Reassembling the Unit
To reassemble the unit, follow these steps:
1. Close the cover, and fasten it in place with the two screws that you
removed in step 6 on page 1.
2. Reinstall the unit in its mounted location.
3. Reconnect power and other cables to the unit.
4. Reconnect the unit to the power source.
Your CD-ROM drive replacement is complete. You may now restart the
system.
