3.3.1.3 Wiring the Optional I/O Board Inputs
The I/O Board has 4 input ports that are automatically scanned by the main processor when this
option is connected to the ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL Controller. By default, the inputs are unassigned to
relay output control and must be assigned and configured using the ACS Enterprise program.
The processor will note any switching state change at these 4 inputs and generate a time and
date-stamped controller cache message. This message is then written to the audit trail record, even
when a relay response is not assigned. The input ports are open by default, and can be reconfigured
mation).
Examples of Sensors and Devices for the I/O Inputs
The following security devices shown below can be used with the I/O input array.
• Each input socket pair has a COM and INPUT termination. Make sure that each input device, if it
has a similar output configuration (COM, SIGNAL OUTPUT), is connected properly. (Example:
Device COM - I/O Input COM, Device Signal OUTPUT - I/O INPUT)
• I/O Board Inputs operate best from mechanical output contacts (dry contacts).
3.3.1.4 Wiring the Door Control and Additional Outputs
The ACS-1E and ACS-1EUL can support one door (or two doors with the same schedule) when the
Controller is installed alone, and two independent door locks when the Second Card Reader option is
installed.
Controller Outputs
The Door Control Relay is double-pole / double-throw. The relay on the Second Card Reader Board is
similar.
