ACS-1E and ACS-1EUL Installation
Follow these instructions to begin installing your ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL controller.
This chapter includes:
3.1 Controller Box Installation
3.1.1 Secure Controller Location
The ACS-1E or ACS-1EUL Controller should be mounted in a secure yet accessible area, preferably with
a lockable door. Close proximity to the Card Readers is also recommended for easier cabling.
Examples of desirable mounting locations include:
• ATM service room (behind the ATM front controller)
• Secure network server room
• Above a hung ceiling in a front office or service closet near the Card Reader locations.
Examples of undesirable mounting locations include:
• Near hot water pipes and steam conduits requiring occasional inspection and servicing
• Near noise-generating devices. Stay away from electric motors, unshielded computer systems,
and unshielded wire lines carrying high-amplitude radio or digital data signals.
• Any area that would place a technician in physical danger
3.1.2 Secure Power Source
ACS-1E and ACS-1EUL systems require a secure, steady power source to operate properly. The follow-
ing requirements must be met for a proper installation:
• 100-125 VAC 50-60 Hz wall socket within 5 feet of the Controller Box for the Controller Power Supply,
and at least one additional power supply to handle an electrically-operated door-lock.
