10.1.2 Setting of cassette mechanism self
diagnosis mode

1. Activate the Self Diagnosis mode for the Deck and the following Self Diagnosis shall be
couducted.
A. H02 : REC INH SW abnormal
B. H03 : HALF SW abnormal
C. H04 : LOAD SW abnormal
D. F01 : Reel pulse abnormal

H01 : If MODE SW abnormal is detected during normal operation, it shall be
memorized. The detection and memory shall be done for Deck.
2. Activate the Self Diagnosis mode with the Deck unloaded.
3. The test mode display ( [ T ] at the 1st digit, meaning TEST ) shall be made and detection shall
be executed to check RECINH SW, HALFSW are in OFF state.
4. Slot a cassette tape ( with recording preventive tab present ) into the deck and push the cassette
into the deck (LOADING Operation should be observed).
5. After this instant with the cassette loaded in, RECINH SW, HALF SW shall be checked and
confirmed at this stage by the software. Press FF key to proceed the self-diagnosis. The FF
operation shall stop automatically after 3 sec. If abnormal operationis detected, the tape shall
stop automatically after 1 seconds. During the FF operation, the Reel Pulse shall be checked
by the software.
6. After the tape stop, the Error codes shall be displayed by toggling the STOP key.

In Self Diagnosis mode, the operations which are normally conducted by the cassette
mechanism basic operation keys shall not be executed. Those keys are used only to
comfirm a diagnosis results. The keys used for other functions shall bevalid, unless there
are some reason to make them invalid.

As HALF SW solder point and RECINH SW solder point are located close to each
other, it’s necessary to check the shorting between the adjacent points. For this purpose,
operation has to be executed twice using two kind of cassettes,i.e. a cassette with
recording preventive tabs for both Sides A/B and a cassette with a recording preventive
tab for only either one side of Sides A/B.
