If the unit detects a problem, one of the following messages is shown on the display.

The supplied telephone line cord has not been 
connected yet or not connected properly. Check 
the connections (page 7).

Dial lock is turned on. To turn it off, see page 13.

A wrong type of battery such as Alkaline or 
Manganese was inserted. Use only the 
rechargeable Ni-MH batteries noted on page 3, 5.

handset and base unit away from all electrical 
appliances and try again.
