Left part:
This part contains the telephone keypad laid out in the conventional telephone arrangement with a “nib”
on the 5 button. Below the keypad are three circular buttons in a horizontal row: from left to right,
FLASH, REDIAL and MUTE. The FLASH button is also the CALL WAIT button. The REDIAL button
is also the PAUSE button.
Middle part:
At the top middle part of the panel is a smooth surface. This is the display. Immediately below the display
are the four oval buttons in a horizontal row: from left to right, RECORD, ERASE, LOCATOR and
AUTO ANSWER. The LOCATOR button is also the INTERCOM button. Immediately below the
RECORD button is the PLAY MESSAGES button. On the lower left of these buttons are two more
buttons in a horizontal row: the oval one on the left is the MENU button and the round one on the right is
the HELP button. Below the MENU button, the long rectangular button with a clipped right edge is the
DIGITAL SPEAKER-PHONE button. To the right of these buttons is the NAVIGATOR control, which is
a large cross key with four active areas. The active areas are the 12 o’clock, 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9
o’clock positions. The 12 and 6 o’clock positions are PLUS and MINUS keys respectively. These are also
the VOLUME control increase and decrease. The 3 and 9 o’clock positions are the RIGHT and LEFT
arrow keys.
Right part:
This part is a vertical row of controls. At the top is the CALLER ID button. The middle two ovals are the
STOP and the COPY buttons. The STOP button is marked with an indented triangle. The COPY button is
marked with an indented page icon. The large FAX START button with a “nib”, which is also the SET
button, is at the bottom. This button is marked with an indented diamond. To the lower right of this button
is an indentation. This is the microphone.
