11.4.1. Optical pick-up tilt adjustment
Remove the solder short before adjustment.
11.4.1.1. Preparations before adjustment
1. Remove the adhesive from tilt cam A on the bottom surface
of the traverse with tweezers etc. (See Fig. 1.)
2. Place the tabs on tilt cam A so they are facing up. (See Fig.
1.)
3. Connect the extension cables in 2 places to the bottom
cabinet jig. (See Fig. 2.)
Note:
Do not let FFC float up above the upper surface of the
traverse unit in order to avoid scratching the disc.
4. Connect the membrane switch to the Main C.B.A. (See Fig.
2.)
5. Insert the start switch shorting tool (JGS0117) into the
connector (FP5002).

11.4.1.2. Adjustment
1. Play test disc T01 (inner portion).
2. Put tilt adjustment into service mode. (Press and hold the
PLAY and PAUSE buttons, and then press S on the
number buttons on the remote control.)
3. Confirm that "JT***XXX" is displayed on the disc cover
display.
<Jitter reference values>
This player normaly indicates between 9% and 10%.
Note:
The 3 digits XXX the right of JT*** have nothing to do
with the jitter value. (XXX shows the number of times an
error has occurred.)
4. Turn tangential adjustment screw A (on the inside of the
secondary rail) to adjust the jitter to the lowest value. (See
Fig. 1.)
5. Turn radial tilt adjustment screw B (on the outside of the
main rail) from underneath to adjust the jitter to the lowest
value. (See Fig. 3.)
6. Play test disc T43 (outer portion).
7. Turn tangential tilt adjustment screw C (on the outside of
the secondary rail) from underneath to adjust the jitter to the
lowest value. (See Fig. 3.)
8. Play test disc T01 (inner portion).
9. Turn tangential adjustment screw A (on the inside of the
secondary rail) to adjust the jitter to the lowest value. (See
Fig. 1.)
10. Once adjustment is completed, lock adjustment screws A,
B, and C with the screw lock.
Note:
For adjustment screw A, firmly lock the tilt cam and the
traverse base.

11.4.1.3. Checking after adjustment
Play the test disc and other regular discs to check for
deterioration in picture quality for the inner, middle, and out
portions, and that the sound does not skip.
