Initiating a Loopback
To send one of the available loopbacks, press the appropriate letter in the Loopback Menu. The following prompt
appears:
PLEASE WAIT................
A series of dots moves from left to right indicating that the command has been issued. When this process
completes, the system returns to the Maintenance Terminal Main Menu. The selected loopback four letter
designation now appears in the Loopback Mode field in the Maintenance Terminal Main Menu (see
which an NLOC loopback is in progress). The loopback continues to cycle in the system depending upon your
Loopback Timeout setting.

Disabling a Loopback
The Disable Loopbacks option (
) allows you to disable (cancel) any of the loopbacks listed in
the screen. To disable loopbacks, press
in the Loopback Menu. The following prompt appears:

completes, the system returns to the Maintenance Terminal Main Menu where the Loopback Mode is identified
as None.
The Loopback Menu screen is also available at the HRU connected to the HLU-231 List 8E,
therefore allowing all HiGain System loopbacks to be initiated from either end of the circuit.
