for young children. Please contact your physician.
• Do not allow children to take their temperatures unattended.
• Do not allow children to walk or run during temperature taking.
OPERATING THE THERMOMETER

2. Wait for thermometer to get ready.
– A beep will sound and the display will
perform a self- test for about 2 seconds
(Fig. 1).
– The display will show the last temperature
reading for 2 seconds, and then will

– When “F” flashes on the display, the
thermometer is ready to use (Fig. 3).
3. Select a temperature location (oral, under the arm, or rectal).
4. While the thermometer is measuring the temperature, “F”
will continuously flash on the display.
5. When “F” stops flashing (about 1 minute), the thermometer
will beep indicating the process has been completed and
the temperature reading will be displayed.
6. Press the POWER button to power off the thermometer and
then place it in its storage case.
NOTE: The thermometer will automatically power off after 10
minutes of inactivity.
PROBE COVERS (not included)
When taking temperature readings, it is recommended to use
disposable probe covers. Place a cover on the thermometer's
probe tip to help prevent contamination. Disposable probe
covers can be purchased at most pharmacies.
SELECTING A TEMPERATURE LOCATION
Oral (recommended)
1. Cover the probe tip with a probe cover (not included) and
place the probe tip of the thermometer well under the tongue.
For an accurate measurement, it is important to keep your
mouth closed and stay still. Be careful not to bite down on
the thermometer.
2. Dispose of the used probe cover and wash the thermometer
as recommended (See Cleaning Instructions).
Under the arm
1. Wipe the underarm with a tissue or towel before using.
2. Place the probe tip under the arm so the
probe tip is touching the skin and
position your arm next to your body
(Fig. 4).
3. Wash the thermometer as recommended (See Cleaning
Instructions).
NOTE: This method is less accurate and may take longer than
a temperature taken orally.
Rectal
1. Cover the probe tip with a probe cover (not included) and
lubricate with a water-soluble jelly for easier insertion. Do
not use a petroleum jelly. Read the label of the lubricant to
be sure you are using the right kind.
2. Take the temperature while the patient is on his or her side.
For infants, the proper position is for the baby to lay on its
stomach with legs hanging down. This positions the infant’s
rectum for safe and easy insertion of the thermometer.
3. Gently insert the probe tip of the thermometer NO MORE
THAN 1/2 inch into the rectum. If you detect resistance, stop.
Hold the thermometer in place during measurement.
4. Dispose of the used probe cover and wash the thermometer
as recommended (See Cleaning Instructions).
NOTE: This method produces a temperature reading, 1° higher
than a temperature taken orally.
CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS
• Clean the probe tip by washing with soap and warm water
or by disinfecting with rubbing alcohol (70% isopropyl alcohol).
• Only the probe tip is water resistant, avoid getting the display wet.
• Wipe dry with soft cloth.
• DO NOT soak the entire thermometer in water.
• DO NOT BOIL OR CLEAN IN DISHWASHER.
• Do not wash the unit with any thinner or chemical solvent.
CHANGING THE BATTERIES
The thermometer features a long life battery. When “
”
appears on the display, the battery needs to be replaced.
1. Remove the battery cover as shown.
2. Replace the battery with a 1.55V, LR41 battery
or equivalent. Insert the new battery with the
positive (+) side facing up.
3. Replace the battery cover, making sure that it is
secure to protect the battery compartment from
moisture.
