Caution
Avoid accidental start - the earth auger must be turned off and allowed to cool down
and the spark plug lead removed before any type of inspection or adjustment is
carried out on the motor or the earth auger.
Keep nuts and bolts tightened and check them regularly.
Do not store the earth auger with fuel in the tank indoors. Fuel or fuel vapours can be
ignited by potential sparks.
Always only allow adults to carry out maintenance and repairs to the motor and earth
auger.
Spark plug:
It is advisable to use spark plugs of the type NGK BPM6A.
1.
The spark plug should be inspected every 50 operating hours.
2.
Remove the spark plug cap and remove any deposits.
3.
The spark plug must be replaced if: the electrodes are damaged, burnt, the porcelain is
scratched or there are deposits around the electrodes.
4.
After maintenance or replacement, the spark plug is re-inserted using a spark plug
spanner.
Note that a loose spark plug can overheat and damage the motor. An overtightened spark
plug can damage the threads in the cylinder head.
Carburettor:
Never allow any changes to be made to the factory settings of the carburettor.
Transport:
1.
Never transport the motor in a closed space or vehicle. Fuel or fuel vapours can ignite
and result in serious personal injury or death.
2.
If there is fuel present in the fuel tank, transport the equipment in an open vehicle in a
raised vertical position.
3.
If transporting the equipment in a closed vehicle is unavoidable, the fuel must be
emptied from the tank and poured into an approved container.
4.
Allow the motor to run to remove any residues of fuel from the tank and carburettor.
Remember to do this outside in a well-ventilated area.
5.
Wipe up any spilled fuel from motor and earth auger. Allow to dry.
