Remove Magazines
CAUTION:
Keep loaded magazines level. Don’t hold a
magazine by the handle; support it with both hands.
NOTE:
If unable to power up the library, refer to the ARCvault
12 or ARCvault 24 User Guide on removing magazines
manually.
1.
Press
Utilities > Service > Access All Mags > OK
(at
the going offline message)
> Unlock All
.
2.
Open the right door and remove the
right magazine
.
3.
For an ARCvault 24, open the left door and remove the
left magazine

4.
Press
Relock All
,
and then
OK
at the message.
5.
Press
Back three times
.
6.
Press
Power > Power Off Library > OK
(at the
power down message) to power down the unit.
Remove Unit from Rack
WARNING: It is recommended that a mechanical lifter
(or at least two people) be used to prevent injury during
rack installation or removal.
1.
At the rear, remove the
power cord
and all
cables
.
2.
At the front, open the doors and loosen the
retaining
screws
inside.
3.
Carefully remove the
ARCvault unit
from the rack
and place it on a secure, flat surface.
NOTE:
Some units require a tool to release the rail stops.
Remove Drive Assemblies
1.
Loosen the
two thumbscrews
on the drive cover
.
2.
Remove the
drive cover
a.
Hold the
cover
about 2 inches (5cm) below the unit.
b.
Unplug the
fan wiring
from the fan connector.
c.
Pull the
drive assembly
out about 1 inch (2.5cm)
and unplug the
SCSI cable
.
d.
Set the
drive cover
aside.
3.
Unplug the
drive power
cables
and position them off
to the right.
4.
Disconnect the
serial jumper cable
from the serial
connector.
Leave the jumper cable attached to the drive assembly.
5.
With the wiring moved off to the
right
, grasp the
guide grips
and remove the drive assembly.
