8.14.1 Separate LCD monitor

Ottobock offers an interface for alternate input devices (environment and special controls) with the LCD mon
itor. Ottobock assumes no liability for combinations with special controls and/or accessories from other manu
facturers.

Accessories from other manufacturers must be intended for use on wheelchairs and must fulfil all currently
applicable legal requirements under the Medical Devices Act as well as further applicable standards.

The power wheelchair can be equipped with a separate LCD monitor with infrared and Bluetooth
TM
. If it is
installed, the control panel LCD screen only shows the battery charge level. Otherwise it has no function (see
below).
The LCD monitor performs the following functions:

The LCD monitor displays the current statuses of all power functions and electrical components, as well as
faults and malfunctions.
•
The LCD monitor allows devices with infrared control to be controlled with the control panel joystick. First the
devices are programmed into the control unit using a learning mode:

Standard household appliances and hi-fi devices (TV, DVD, phone)
–
Light switches or dimmers
–
Switches to operate blinds
–
Mouse emulator (joystick signals are used to control a computer mouse)

The LCD monitor is the interface to the connected special controls. The input devices of the special controls
(e.g. sip-and-puff control, chin control) can also be used for infrared functions. Detailed information can be
found in the "Special Controls" instructions for use, article number 647G636=*.

Turning the power wheelchair on
•
After turning the power wheelchair on with the [On/Off] button on the control panel, the
Driving
menu is
shown on the LCD monitor (see below).
•
If the power wheelchair is turned on via the LCD monitor, the
Main
menu is displayed there first. Now the joy
stick has to be moved forward 1 x in order to drive. Only after moving the joystick forward does the
Driving
menu appear (see below).
•
The battery symbol is shown on the control panel LCD screen:
