5 Preparation for use
INFORMATION
Parallel alignment of the orthotic joints
Use the 743R6 alignment fixture for orthotic joints to position the orthotic
joints on the plaster positive.
Preparing the orthotic ankle joint
1) Secure the lamination bars in the orthotic ankle joint using the included
screws.
2) Mount the orthotic ankle joint on the size 2 or 3 alignment insert.
3) Use 636K8* Plastaband to seal the milled area of the bearing nut, the
screw heads and the spring channel of the orthotic ankle joint.
Shaping the bars
The 17B98* kit contains four lamination bars with a straight design and a
length of 80 mm. The lamination bars are optionally available with a length of
100 mm.
1) Secure the bars on the orthotic ankle joint using the screws and check
the alignment on the model.
2) Mark the insertion zone on the bar.
3) Loosen the screws on the bars and adapt the bars with bending irons.
4) Fasten the shaped bars to the orthotic ankle joint using the screws.
5) Repeat the steps until the desired result is obtained.
6)
INFORMATION: When fabricating the orthosis, use 636W18 special
adhesive and 636W19 hardener to bond and screw together the
lamination bars in the insertion zone of the orthotic ankle joint.
Bending the foot stirrups
The foot stirrups are assembled with the orthotic ankle joint on delivery.
1) Disassemble the orthotic joint.
2) Clamp bending irons in a vice.
3)
INFORMATION: To prevent the risk of breakage, do not bend or
otherwise modify the insertion zone.
4) Adapt the foot stirrup with the bending irons.
6 Cleaning
Clean the orthosis joint promptly after contact with water containing salt,
chlorine or soap, or if it gets dirty.
1) Rinse the orthosis joint with clean, fresh water.
