Battery maintenance
The batteries fitted to your EP1C wheelchair are not designed to be removed
frequently and therefore the following procedure should only be carried out
during service or repair of the wheelchair.
REMOVING BATTERIES
1. Ensure the joystick is switched off.
2. Remove battery bag
3.
Disconnect both rear batteries wiring harnesses
4. Disconnect all power, motor and joystick connectors.
5. Undo battery restraining straps.
6. Remove batteries
BATTERIES AND CHARGING
WARNING!
• The battery charger supplied with your powered wheelchair is for
indoor use only; it must be protected from moisture and external
heat sources.
•
Handle the battery charger with care, if it has been dropped or
damaged, do not use it.
• Do not use an extension lead for connection from the mains to the
charger unless absolutely necessary. If you do use one ensure it is in
good condition.
• Only use the charger supplied with your powered wheelchair.
CHARGING
Your powered wheelchair is equipped with GEL type batteries (acid free)
which require regular charging. To ensure trouble free operation of your
powered wheelchair it is imperative to monitor the battery charge condition
continuously and to recharge the batteries in good time. Intervals at which
the batteries may need charging will vary and depend upon the conditions
in which the powered wheelchair is being used, the weight of the user and
ambient operating temperature in which the powered wheelchair is being
operated.
