Prepare the Server for Hot Service (Oracle ILOM Web Interface)

Verify that the Power State is OFF:
At the prompt, type the following command:
stop /System
3. To
turn on
the Locate Button/LED, type the following command:
set /System/ locator_indicator=on
Note - To turn off the Locator indicator, type:
set /System/ locator_indicator=off
.
4. Once at the service location, press the Locate Button/LED button to deactivate
the indicator.

5. Set up an ESD-safe space at the service location.
Set up a space where you can set components. See “Performing Electrostatic Discharge and
Static Prevention Measures” on page 98 .
6. Perform hot service removal and installation procedures on components.

Prepare the Server for Hot Service (Oracle ILOM
Web Interface)
This procedure describes how to prepare the server to remove, replace, or install hot-service
components. A hot-service component can be serviced while the server is operating at
Main power mode. For more information about component serviceability, see “Component
Serviceability Requirements” on page 26 .
1. Log in to the service processor Oracle ILOM web interface.
Direct a web browser to Oracle ILOM using the IP address of the server SP and log in as root
or a as user with administrator privileges. See “Accessing Oracle ILOM” in Oracle Server X7-8
Installation Guide .
The Summary Information page appears.

In the Actions section of the Summary Information page, click the Locator
Indicator Turn On button.
